First Thematic Seminar of NeT-TOPIC project -   20 - 21/05/2009
Sesto San Giovanni will organise the First Thematic Seminar in the framework of the NeT-TOPIC project. The event will take place next 20th & 21st May and will be focused on: “Recovering and conditioning abandoned and obsolete industrial areas” and “Urban fragmentation due to roads and communication infrastructure”.

The European project NeT-TOPIC (URBACT II) gets the approval for the Implementation Phase - 12/12/2008
The European project NeT-TOPIC has been approved in the framework of the programme URBACT II to develop the second phase or Implementation Phase. This Thematic Network is focused on peripheral cities located in metropolitan areas. These cities, sharing similar problems (such as industrial decline, territorial fragmentation, social polarisation, etc.) are considering a city model change that increases the strategic value of its territory. The project aims to enhance the role of these cities in their territorial governance and urban planning processes to achieve a new city model.

Barakaldo City Council, as member of the cities network, organised this institutional event that was accompanied by the Congress: “The Transformation of the European City. The Swedish City of Västerås: new member of the TRACE network -   27 - 28/11/2008
The Swedish city of Västerås joined the protocol of intentions for the constitution of the network of European Cities in Transformation (TRACE) during the celebration of the II International Conference of the network and the Congress “The Transformation of the European City. Guidelines for the 21st Century” to be held in Barakaldo next 27th & 28th November. Västeras has thus become a new member of the cities network.

Third TRACE technical meeting- Sesto San Giovanni -   24 - 25/01/2008
On the 24th and 25th of January 2008 it took place the third TRACE technical meeting in Sesto San Giovanni (Italy). This meeting consisted of a working session, where there were presented and discussed the TRACE 2008 actions, and a tour visit to the most relevant transformation projects of Sesto San Giovanni.

Constitutional act of the TRACE network - 16/11/2007
Representatives from the City Councils of de Liepaja (Latvia), Nanterre (France), Salford (United Kingdom), Gent (Belgium), Sesto San Giovanni (Italy) and Barakaldo, Getafe and L’Hospitalet (Spain) have officially constituted the TRACE network. This constitution took place under the framework of an official act on the 16th of November 2007 in L’Hospitalet. This act also counted with the assistance of representatives from other European cities interested in becoming future members of TRACE.

Challenges and performances”, that took place on the 15th of November 2007 in L’Hospitalet. This event let to know and discuss the main challenges and key aspects of the European cities urban development processes and the results of specific performances.

Second TRACE technical meeting in Brussels - 13/06/2007
On the 13th of June of 2007 it took place in Brussels the second technical meeting of TRACE. This meeting was attended by representatives from the cities of Barakaldo, Ghent, L’Hospitalet, Nanterre, Salford, Tampere and Vasteras. The aim of the meeting was to discuss issues related to the progress and contents of TRACE: to agree on the basic contents of the network, to create a database of good practices, to elaborate joint projects proposals under EU funding Programmes (for example URBACT II programme), and so on.
