ABOUT TRACE
TRACE is a network of medium-sized European cities that have undergone urban transformation processes of great impact and influence on their environment, being it at the metropolitan, regional or even national level.
Promoted by the Spanish city of l’Hospitalet, this network has been conceived as an open space for debate and reflection; for sharing experiences and proposals on urban transformation topics, which have or will have the highest impact on the political and social life of these cities and their citizens.
The objectives TRACE intends to achieve are:
• To promote exchanges of experiences and the generation of new knowledge in topics related to city transformation, as well as to share and change this knowledge into a reference for other cities that are undergoing similar transformation processes.
• To carry out joint initiatives between cities that have undergone and are undergoing high-impact urban transformation processes (projects, training initiatives, publications, seminars, good practices catalogue, etc..).
• To promote alliances between the local administrations, universities and other professionals related to, interested in or affected by urban transformation.
• To offer greater visibility to TRACE member cities at an international level and a greater presence in political, institutional and academic forums of interest.
• To position itself in European, national and regional policies that deal with topics related to its scope.
The network pretends to become a reference for cities that are going through similar processes in Europe. It also intends to be a working tool, promoter of knowledge and highly increased value products before the European Union, its member states and their regions. An element worth highlighting is the implication of European universities in carrying out some of the activities of the network.
